The Royal Collection, one of the finest art collections in the world, is held in trust for the Nation by The Queen as Sovereign. It is on public display at the principal royal residences and in particular in the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace.

There are a limited number of exclusive evening tours of the Queen’s Gallery. These tours are exclusive in that the gallery is closed to the public for evening and Dr Barry Twigg MBE (Education Officer for the CMA) will be our guide for this fascinating exhibition. He will provide some insight into, and some background stories about, a selection of the works of art on view. There will be an opportunity for participants to view the other works of art subsequently. The visit will end with a glass of wine or soft drink in the Queen’s Gallery.

Last November’s hugely successful BMS private tour of the Northern Renaissance: Dürer to Holbein exhibition

From Friday, 10 May 2013 to Sunday, 06 October 2013 one superb major exhibition will occupy all the exhibition space in the Queen’s Gallery. It will be called “In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion”.
This exhibition explores the sumptuous costume of British monarchs and their court during the 16th and 17th centuries through portraits and drawings, garments, jewellery, accessories and armour in the Royal Collection.
During this period fashion was central to court life and was an important way to display social status. Royalty and the elite were the tastemakers of the day, often directly influencing the styles of fashionable clothing.
“In Fine Style” follows the changing fashions of the period, demonstrates the spread of styles internationally and shows how clothing could convey important messages. Including works by Hans Holbein the Younger, Nicholas Hilliard, Van Dyck and Peter Lely, the exhibition brings together over 60 paintings,
This exhibition is in the Queen’s Gallery part of Buckingham Palace which consists of four galleries, a shop and full facilities. The visit does not include any other parts of the Palace such as the State Rooms. These visits start at about 6.30 pm and finish at 8.00 pm. Photography IS permitted.

The charge for the visit is the £35 (including admin charge ) and includes a glass of wine or soft drink at the end of the evening, unlimited free daytime admission to the Queen’s Gallery for a year and 20 per cent reduction on items in the Queen’s Gallery shop on the evening of the visit, when the shop will stay open specially and exclusively for the group.

Tickets must be purchased by the 1st of May and are sold on a first come first served basis.

The tickets to this private evening tour cannot be purchased from the Queens Gallery or Royal Collection.

    I’m visiting from Australia from the 18th May, I believe this would be an amazing experience, would it be worth trying to purchase a ticket
